Court of Peace

The Court of Peace, and therefore the justice of the peace, only deals with civil cases that are of a "private nature" for the citizen (e.g. neighbour disputes, rent disputes, unpaid bills, etc.). So you cannot appeal to the justice of the peace for criminal or tax matters, for example.
